Our Mission statement

Pouch Pals is a support group based in Milton Keynes, United Kingdom, dedicated to offering peer support to individuals under the age of 50 living with an ostomy. Our community provides a safe and understanding space for members to share experiences, seek advice, and connect with others facing similar challenges.

About our group

Living with an ostomy under the age of 50 can present unique challenges — physically, emotionally, and socially. Our group was created to provide a supportive, non-judgmental space for people in the Milton Keynes area who are navigating this journey.

We offer peer-led support specifically for individuals under 50 with a stoma, whether it’s colostomy, ileostomy, or urostomy. Our aim is to foster a sense of community in a relaxed, non-medical environment where everyone feels welcome. Whether you’re newly adjusting to life with a stoma or have lived with one for years, you’re invited to share your experiences, ask questions, or simply listen and connect.

What makes our group different is that we’re led by our members. Your voice matters — your thoughts, concerns, and ideas help shape the direction of our support. We believe in the power of lived experience, and we know how valuable it is to talk to someone who truly understands.

Our goals include:

  • Reducing isolation by connecting people with shared experiences
  • Building confidence and self-esteem through open conversations and shared understanding
  • Improving wellbeing with emotional support and practical tips
  • Signposting to trusted organisations that provide information, services, and ongoing support for ostomy-related care

We welcome everyone with respect and kindness, regardless of background, gender, sexuality, or personal journey. Whether you want to talk, listen, learn, or laugh — you’ll find a place here.

Together, we are stronger.

“Pouch Pals has been a lifeline for me since my ostomy surgery. The support and understanding from the group members have helped me navigate this new chapter in my life with confidence.”
